Learn some new vocabulary:
Cryptogram– a communication in cipher or code
• Cipher– a method of transforming a text in order to conceal its meaning
• Code– a system of signals or symbols for communication
• Spy– a person who secretly collects and reports information on the activities, movements, and plans of an enemy or competitor.
• Secret Agent– a person who tries to get secret information about another country, government, etc.
• Ally–a group of nations taking military action together, in particular the countries that fought with the US in World War I and World War II. (friend).
• Decipher-to interpret the meaning of
• World War II– conflict that involved virtually every part of the world during the years 1939– 45. The principal enemies were Germany, Italy and Japan—and the Allies including the United States, France, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and, to a lesser extent, China. The 40,000,000–50,000,000 deaths incurred in World War II make it the deadliest and largest war, in history.
• Enigma Machine– a famous encryption machine used by the Germans during WWII to transmit coded messages. An Enigma machine allows for billions and billions of ways to encode a message, making it incredibly difficult for other nations to crack German codes during the war.
